NEET Counselling 2027 : The window for NEET counselling registration will be announced shortly after the exam results are declared. The Medical Counselling Committee of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) for Undergraduate Medical Courses oversees the NEET counselling process. NEET 2027 UG Counselling Overview

The NEET 2027 counselling schedule will be published on mcc.nic.in after the results are declared. All qualifying candidates are advised to monitor the MCC website and the NTA official portal for notifications. The historical 2022 counselling timeline below illustrates the typical pattern of events candidates can expect.

NEET UG 2025 Counselling - Key Highlights

• NEET UG 2025 was conducted on May 4, 2025; results declared by NTA on June 14, 2025
• MCC commenced AIQ Round 1 counselling registration in July 2025 on mcc.nic.in
• Counselling conducted in 4 rounds: Round 1, Round 2, Mop-up Round, and Stray Vacancy Round
• Round 1 seat allotment results and reporting to institutes completed by August 2025
• Round 2 and Mop-up rounds completed through September-October 2025
• Stray vacancy round and final reporting completed by November 2025
• For NEET 2027 (exam: expected May 2, 2027), AIQ counselling is expected to begin around July-August 2027 after results are declared

Why is NEET Counselling Required?

Once candidates clear NEET examination, they qualify to register for NEET counselling process. Through NEET counselling, eligible candidates can seek admission to different medical institutes across the country. This is done by registration and filling the choice of course and paying fees. Seats are allocated to candidates based on their All India Rank (AIR) - NEET rank, seat availability, reservation, choice of college and related criteria.

NEET Counselling: Overview

Candidates appearing for NEET and preparing to take part in the AIQ NEET counselling must get themselves registered through the online mode. One must ensure that in order to appear for counselling, one has to clear the minimum percentile- the NEET cut-off to qualify for the counselling process. For this, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has been deputed for 15% seats of the sum input from all the government colleges for all the candidates falling under AIQ (except for colleges of J&K state).

NEET UG Counselling 2027 also enables candidates to fill up seats from the following quota:

• IP (Insured Persons) quota in Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) medical institutes
• Central and Deemed Universities seats
• AFMC (Armed Forces Medical College) Pune

NEET Counselling results are announced in the form of a list - seat allotment list. For the remaining 85% of seats granted in private and government medical institutes, NEET UG counselling will be carried out by the corresponding state counselling officials.

NEET Counselling - Process explained in simple steps

The NEET counselling takes place in the following stages:

• • Completing the NEET registration process (MCC) including payment
  • Choice filling and locking
  • Allotment of Round 1 Seats as well as the announcement of results
  • Reporting to the allotted medical or dental college. Also note - aspirants will be provided with the option for free entry and exit.
  • Round 2 begins with the publishing of the seats that remain vacant
  • Registration begins for NEET counselling Round 2 and fresh choice filling. However, please note that registration is not required for candidates that have already registered the first time.
  • Seats are allocated for Round 2 . Also, aspirants have the option to forfeit their seats if they forgo their security amount.
  • Reporting to the allocated medical or dental college in preparation for round 2. Please note that once the candidate accepts and joins the alloted seat, they are not allowed to vacate their seat.

NEET Counselling by MCC - All India Counselling

NEET online counselling is carried out by the MCC (Medical Counselling Committee) of the Directorate General of Health Services for Undergraduate Medical Courses (DGHS). Step By Step Process of NEET Counselling

I. Register

• It is important to register, without which candidates cannot fill in the course and college option
• On the official website, enter details and login
• Once the registration process is completed, details are generated which are sent to the candidate via his/her mobile number and email ID. Details sent include password and User ID. These details help students to proceed further

• Candidates who have qualified and eligible for counselling process of NEET register at the official website mcc.nic.in
• To complete the process of NEET Counselling Registration, a candidate must produce their NEET scorecards displaying their application numbers
• Keep ready all the documents required for the NEET counselling registration process for verification and validation
• Register yourself online to the NEET counselling process to participate in the seat allotment process

II. Submission and Locking of Choice

• As per preference, candidates can fill in the choice of college and courses
• Once selected, click on the ‘save’ button to lock the choices entered

III. Seat Allotment Result

• Once choices are locked, in a matter of a few days, seat allotment results are announced by authorities
• Seat allotment is in accordance with the filled choices by the candidate
• Candidates can have a look at the allotment result as they are sent an SMS or mail regarding the same. It provides details of the allotted colleges and courses

IV. Editing and Locking

• Candidates who desire to alter the choice of allotted seats may do so
• One must log in to the official website with credentials in order to alter the choices
• Once alteration/editing (if any) is done, the choice must be locked once again

V. Report to Allotted Colleges

• In order for the candidates to confirm the seats, they must report to the colleges allotted once seat allotment is done
• For seats to get confirmed at the allotted college, candidates must pay the initial fee thereby completing the admission procedures
• If the candidate misses being present at the allotted college within the specific time frame, seats will be transferred automatically to the next inline
• The original documents to be submitted are as below:
  • Class 10 Mark sheet and certificate - (date of birth)
  • Class 12 Mark sheet and certificate
  • NEET Admit Card
  • NEET Rank letter or Scorecard
  • Valid ID proof (Aadhaar/PAN card/Passport/Driving License)

NEET Counselling-Payment Of Fee

Candidates must pay fees to register successfully and be eligible for the counselling procedures. The fee is a refundable and one non-refundable fee, both payments to be made within the allotted time frame. This payment can be made through the online mode only via Internet banking or Debit/credit card. The fee for counselling as per previous trends (subject to change) is as specified below:

• In case the candidate is unhappy with the seat allotted, they can approach the second counselling round for NEET
• Candidates who are allotted seats in this round are not permitted to vacate the seats, the category being 15% All India Quota
• If the allotted seat to the candidate in the second round is not desired by the candidate, then candidates can exit with forfeiture as per the exit policy in which case the security amount that is deposited will be lost. Once the candidate accepts the allotted seat, it cannot be declined/surrendered.

Who Is Eligible For NEET Counselling?

Candidates who have qualified NEET clearing the cut-off by obtaining the minimum qualifying percentile are eligible to take part in the NEET Counselling. However, candidates belonging to the Jammu and Kashmir State are not eligible to take part in NEET counselling. To take part in the NEET Counselling process, candidates must register on the official website (MCC) within the time frame specified. All the qualifying candidates (including J&K state candidates) will be eligible to take part in the AIQ counselling for Deemed universities.

Eligibility Criteria - Central University

• Delhi University (UCMS, MAMS, LHMC) - 85% of seats are reserved for candidates who have studied grades 11 & 12 in Delhi, remaining 15% seats transferred to AIQ (All India Quota)
• Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) - 50% reservation seats for candidates who have studied from their schools for the past 3 years. The remaining seats are presented to all the qualified candidates
• BHU - all candidates clearing the NEET eligibility criteria for counselling are eligible to take part in the BHU MBBS counselling too for all offered seats in the university
• Jamia Millia Islamia, Delhi - Faculty of Dentistry - Out of 50 seats, 47 BDS seats are open to everyone while 3 seats fall under the internal quota. Students passing the qualifying examination (class 12/10) from Jamia as regular candidates are eligible to seek admissions under the internal quota here.

Counselling At The State Level

From the remaining 85% seats in government medical colleges, all the seats will be offered in deemed universities while the private medical colleges will be occupied by NEET Counselling regulated by the corresponding state counselling authorities.

The state counselling officials release their separate NEET merit list, counselling dates, application form and also the seat allotment list wherein their own domicile rules are applicable at that level. All the seats of J&K state will be occupied in the state counselling as they do not get to take part in the AIQ NEET counselling.

To get admitted to medical courses in government colleges, the qualified candidates should meet the eligibility criteria set out by corresponding state officials. Once state authorities release the forms on the specified dates, candidates are required to register by filling in the form for application. In addition to government colleges, state counselling officials also conduct counselling for admissions in private medical institutes.

NEET Cut-off: Previous Trends and Historical Data

In order to qualify and seek admissions to medical institutes, candidates must clear a minimum score which is the NEET cut-off. Only such candidates are eligible to take part in the counselling rounds. The cut-off differs every year, depending upon the number of applicants, difficulty level of the exam and other such criteria. NTA (National Testing Agency), the regulatory body for NEET shall announce the NEET cut-off along with the announcement of the results. The cut-off percentile differs based on the different categories.
